Pelosi Celebrates Accomplishments, Horrified Voters Not Invited?

Nancy Pelosi is having a party to celebrate the accomplishments of the Democrat-controlled Congress. Although this invitation sounds like a parody from The Onion or the start of a Leno joke, it’s actually true. The Drudge Report obtained a copy of the invitation, which reads:

Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the United States House of Representatives requests the pleasure of your company at a reception honoring the Accomplishments of the 111th Congress on Wednesday, the tenth day of November, two thousand ten at three thirty in the afternoon Cannon Caucus Room 345 Cannon House Office Building

The dethroned Speaker of the House, whose liberal agenda led her party straight into the defeat, is seemingly still in denial.

“One week after the American people rejected Washington Democrats’ job-killing agenda, celebrating their ‘achievements,’ is so out of touch, it defies description,” responded a top GOP aide.

“Pelosi’s party sounds more like a celebratory Irish wake,” said Doug Heye, spokesman for the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Last week after the election, Pelosi stunned even her own party when she announced that she was staying in Congress and running for Minority Leader. Her insistence on staying on as the face of the House Democrats gave political fodder to the GOP.

“The fact that she’s even running demonstrates how out-of-touch the Democrats are from the American people,” said Heye. “The Democrats seem to think the midterm election message was to ‘Keep On Truckin’.”

Republicans picked up 60 seats in the landslide midterm elections and took control of the House. The American people voted overwhelmingly against Pelosi’s liberal agenda of big government spending, raising taxes, and ObamaCare.

Even Democrats concede that the midterm election was largely a referendum on Pelosi’s leadership. Disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer said last week that “The most effective campaign that we’ve seen over the past couple of months—I hate to say it—was ‘Fire Nancy Pelosi.’”

“That seems to be the message that resonated for the Republican Party, and it was what led to this tidal wave on the Congressional side,” conceded the liberal Spitzer.

After Pelosi announced that she was running for Minority Leader, the RNC promptly mocked her decision. Using a play on words of their successful “Fire Nancy Pelosi” ad campaign, the RNC put up a sign on the front of its D.C. headquarters:  “HIRE PELOSI.”

The huge, red sign on the front of the GOP headquarters needles the Democrats for not having the self-awareness that the midterm elections were a referendum on the liberal policies rammed through Congress by Pelosi and her counterpart in the Senate, Harry Reid.

“We think ‘HIRE PELOSI’ is a tremendous idea for Republicans because she symbolizes the mountain of bad legislation passed by the House Democrats,” said the RNC’s Heye.

My invitation to Pelosi’s accomplishments party on Wednesday must have gotten lost in the mail. No matter: The party is in a taxpayer-funded government building, so we’re going to crash.
